The north wind — the most heroic of all.
You remember it more by its absence than by its presence.
Sailors know that Poyraz is the youngest of the winds.
He doesn’t show himself often, but when he does, everyone listens.
He smooths the sea like glass and cracks your lips dry.
He carries the cold, crisp, mountain air — pure and moistureless — from far away.
Yet he is so sharp that even anchored ships must shift their course against him.
This boy is fierce, proud, and noble.
A psychopath, perhaps —
one who looks his enemy straight in the eye while striking the final blow,
and takes pleasure in seeing fear reflected back.
Still, he is a trustworthy storm,
the guide of migrating birds in early autumn,
showing them the way to warmer lands.
